Background

The Nuptiae App is a hypothetical project completed as part of Google's UX Design Specialization. It was conceived to address the challenges faced by couples planning their weddings, aiming to simplify the venue selection process, save time and money, foster community engagement, and promote sustainability. This innovative app was designed with a deep understanding of user pain points and a commitment to enhancing the wedding planning experience.

COST EFFECTIVE

Immediately apparent is the Nuptiae App's ability to help users save money by eliminating the need for costly travel to visit venues in person, making wedding planning more budget-friendly.

TIME SAVING

The app also shines in its time-saving aspect, allowing couples to efficiently explore numerous venues without physical visits, streamlining the planning process.

EXPLORE OPTIONS

Additionally, users quickly discover that the app has potential to expand their venue choices, enabling them to consider a wider array of options that might have been overlooked otherwise.

Qualitative Research Plan

Recognizing that first impressions can sometimes be misleading, an essential step was taken to ascertain the relevance and real-world applicability of the topic. To achieve this, a comprehensive qualitative research plan was meticulously devised, focusing on conducting in-depth interviews and surveys with prospective users who fit the target demographic, such as engaged couples actively planning their weddings.

Objectives

The primary objective of this UX research plan is to assess the relevance and user needs pertaining to the Wedding Venue Exploration App. By gathering qualitative insights from potential users—specifically, engaged couples in the process of planning their weddings—we aim to better understand their pain points, preferences, and expectations regarding wedding venue selection.

Methodology and Location

Interviews: In-person and online

Location: Online (Facetime, Zoom, Skype, etc.); In-person (Cafe, Restaurant)

  • Can you describe your decision-making process for choosing a wedding venue?

  • What role does budget play in your venue selection, and have you faced any financial constraints?

  • How do you manage your time and schedule when visiting venues in person?

  • What information and features would you find most valuable in an app designed for venue exploration?

  • Would you be willing to participate in future usability interviews for the app I am developing

Problem Statement

Engaged couples require a streamlined means to access and explore a diverse range of wedding venues nationwide as they currently encounter a host of challenges, including time constraints, limited access to multiple venues and difficulties involving family and friends in the selection process.

Persona Development

Based on the insightful interviews conducted, we successfully identified and developed two distinct personas that represent the diverse personalities and needs of our potential users. These personas provide valuable insights into the range of individuals who are actively engaged in wedding planning and considering our Nuptiae App as part of their journey.

User Stories

Based on comprehensive user interviews and a deep understanding of their pain points and frustrations, I've successfully crafted a set of potential user stories. These stories are meticulously designed to address the specific concerns and needs articulated by our users, offering a clear roadmap for the incorporation of essential features into the app.

"As a busy Entrepreneur, I want to be able to virtually visit wedding venues on my app so that I can get informed about multiple locations while spending very little time."

User Story 1

User Story 2

"As someone who has a large group of family and friends, I want to be able to walk-through these venues with them so that they feel involved in all the process and no one feels left out."

User Story 3

"As a engaged individual, I want to be also wanting to talk to them while taking the walk-through so that we can discuss the pro and cons of a venue in real time."

User Story 4

"As an Introvert Gay individual, I want to be able to be able to walkthrough the Wedding venues, so I don't feel overwhelmed at the physical wedding venue while visit multiple venues at the same time."

"As a curious individual, I want to be able to talk to Venue owner/coordinator while walking through the venue so that I can ask him/her all the questions I need to without having to go there in person."

User Story 5

"As engaged couples, we want to be able to walkthrough the wedding venues at ease, so that we have an option to see the real venue and not get deceived by some of the photos they post on Google.

User Journey Mapping

Drawing from the personas we've crafted earlier, a comprehensive user journey has been devised. This journey begins with a common signup process but then branches into distinct user pathways, depending on individual end goals. Presented below is a task map that further segments into various user journeys.
